Tonight's update is from student crew members Lowndes T and Cameron C:
Today we left Cape Cod and sailed about forty nautical miles. We reached Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary during class time where we learned about marine mammals. We learned that there are toothed whales called odontocetes and baleen whales called mysticetes, after our whale class Ms. Beth's did a tasty demonstration of coastal geology in the Gulf of Maine.
At dinnertime we were enjoying an incredible Italian feast when we spotted a finback whale, also known as the greyhound of the sea because of its incredible speed. Also, Alexis M reached her three hundredth photo today and the sunset is beautiful as we motor along towards Boston.
