Today's Update is from student crew Clark C and Alexis M:
We had a nice celebration for our last night on the boat. After dinner, we started our talent show. Each watch had an act and they were:
A Watch: Staff Personalities
B Watch: A newly written song
C Watch: A poem
There were a few more acts and then we moved into awards. Each watch presented its watch leaders with their own awards and the the watch leaders did the same for us. After finishing the awards, the pin ceremony started. This was a very special ceremony where each student gave a speech about how the trip changed them and how they have bonded with their fellow shipmates. After they gave their speech, the students were presented with an official Spirit of South Carolina pin that is only given to those who have completed the long trips. After the pin ceremony, we all sang together and then went to bed.
Dock watch started, we checked the lines for chafing on the dock lines. We also checked the bilges and did boat checks. There was some weather in the area, so we checked the weather forecast often to make sure we weren't going to get any storms. This morning we all woke up to each others' smiling faces. We put on our very fancy Spirit Ocean Adventure t-shirts to take some group pictures. Then we all gathered around to say our goodbyes.
